Making dance fit for the future - that has long been Eric Gauthier's great concern. And long actually means from the very beginning. Even before the Theaterhaus Company's first premiere, SIX PACK, in January 2008, he and his first six dancers and the Gauthier Dance Mobil were bringing dance to people who couldn't come to the theater themselves. But the company grew, the performances in the Theaterhaus and on tour became more numerous. Accordingly, it became increasingly difficult to find dates for the Gauthier Dance Mobil.
But now there is a happy ending - and a new start for this so important outreach project. Theaterhaus Stuttgart's second, young company provides the authentic hot line to tomorrow's audiences. The focus of the Gauthier Dance JUNIORS, who are themselves between the ages of 18 and 22, is on external performances with which they inspire children and young people for dance.
Of course I'll join in! After all, we pursue very similar goals with Agapedia, namely to promote children through sports, play and exercise. Initiatives like Eric's MOVES FOR FUTURE are incredibly important for our entire society, and even more so for children and young people. After more than two years of pandemic, they must first learn to be active again and rediscover the joy of creativity.
Jürgen Klinsmann
Supporter of MOVES FOR FUTURE
As patron, Eric Gauthier was able to win over a personality who ideally fits the mission of MOVES FOR FUTURE: soccer star Jürgen Klinsmann.
The two met in 2021 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Esslingen Children's Center, which is run by Klinsmann's Agapedia Foundation. It's no surprise that the two people, who are both socially committed in so many ways, liked each other right away.
When Eric Gauthier knocked on Jürgen Klinsmann's door, he didn't have to think twice: "Of course I'll do it! After all, we are pursuing very similar goals with Agapedia, namely to promote children through sport, play and exercise.
Initiatives like Eric's MOVES FOR FUTURE are incredibly important for our entire society, and even more so for children and young people. After more than two years of pandemic, they need to learn to be active again and rediscover the joy of creativity."
Moderated and explained by Eric Gauthier, the MOVES FOR FUTURE mobile gives children and young people an insight into the creative work of a dance company. The show, which lasts just under an hour, includes performances of complete dance pieces as well as a live demonstration of how a choreography is created. And of course Eric Gauthier will also encourage his audience to dance themselves.
For the premiere program, the artistic director has also selected two solos and a duet for the Gauthier Dance JUNIORS. These include Michel Fokine's ballet classic The Dying Swan in an adaptation by Eric Gauthier, the pas de deux from Nacho Duato's hit piece Rassemblement and a world premiere by Eric Gauthier. He has created a new solo especially for the MOVES FOR FUTURE mobile: Everybody's Somebody, a piece about love to Lewis Capaldi's hit song Someone You Loved.
MOVES FOR FUTURE POP-UP
No one is likely to forget such a school day in a hurry! Because where Eric Gauthier sets up with his "Unimog stage", it's show pure. At the MOVES FOR FUTURE pop-ups, the artistic director of Gauthier Dance uses the big break to get the whole schoolyard moving with a lightning performance. The enthusiastic "pre-dancer" reaches his young audience with a lot of humor, hip songs and catchy, uncomplicated choreography.
Financially and quite tangibly, the pop-ups are supported by Daimler Truck AG. The company also provides the branded MOVES FOR FUTURE Unimog, whose loading area mutates into a mobile stage. Daimler Truck Head of Communications Jörg Howe: "'For all who keep the world moving' is the self-image of Daimler Truck, which fits perfectly with Eric Gauthier and his project MOVES FOR FUTURE. But in addition to the joy of movement, both also share the conviction that education is the basis for an open and progressive society. That's why we as a company are also very happy to participate in the project initiated by Eric, which actively promotes cultural education for young people."
