A flag? What does it stand for? Does it exclude, does it include?
What do I feel when I see it?

Flags communicate belonging.
On the other hand, they can easily become a symbol of exclusion and closure.
We think of them in a new, different way!

Behind all the flags of the world are people, who in turn each belong to a different nation. They are a symbol of the fact that despite all the differences, human beings in themselves are the greatest common denominator.

The non-profit company Editions Mālama relies on the support of sponsors and donors to cover the costs of fees and printing.

Part of the proceeds from the sale of an M-BOX USA will go to the charity project "Sing, Juandalynn, sing!" by Editions Mālama.

*Editions Mālama and the managing directors do not want to earn any money from these children's books and therefore work pro bono.

PATRON OF THE INITIATIVE

Juandalynn R. Abernathy

Juandalynn R. Abernathy is 64 years old and comes from the USA. Today she lives in Balingen, Baden-Württemberg. She leads the gospel choir "Voices, Hearts and Souls", which she founded in 2000.
She has worked as a soprano, choir director, voice teacher, language coach, opera singer, concert singer and spiritual singer, among others. In the USA she had various opera engagements. Her tours have taken her throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia.

Her father was the Rev. Dr. Ralph David Abernathy.
He was a co-founder of the Civil Rights Movements in the USA. He was a companion and friend of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. After the death of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. Ralph David Abernathy became his successor.

Juandalynn R. Abernathy knew Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. personally. She called him "Uncle Martin."

Thanks to donations, several hardcovers of the book "Sing, Juandalynn, sing!" have now been printed. From the end of April, 1,000 copies will be given away to schools and educational institutions. The book will be distributed in cooperation with the nationwide organisation "Schule ohne Rassismus - Schule mit Courage". Interested readers can also purchase the book via specialised retailers. The book can of course also be read digitally. We would like to thank all those involved for their commitment.

WHAT IS THE M-BOX?

The world is diverse, colorful and individual: No living being and no element is the same as another. And yet human beings are created from the same basic building blocks, shapes and structures.

This principle of life also gave rise to the idea of the M-BOX. It is a symbol, a sign of this diversity, broken down to a basic form.

A room within a room, an object, made with perfect craftsmanship and yet of absolute universality. It is the individual who fills the M-BOX, assigns it qualities, gives it identity.

Regardless of age, gender, religion, skin color or nationality, the owner and viewer determine the content or message of the M-BOX.

As an object of Minimal Art, the M-BOX is a border crosser. And sets a clear sign for diversity by excluding any exclusion and leaving it up to us to decide.

Worldwide, the M-BOX for all nations (FAN) is intended to "promote" the idea of dialogue between PEOPLE - CULTURES - RELIGIONS - NATIONS and thus contribute to a good and peaceful coexistence.
